Truckstop proposed to serve Dover

The proposed Court Wood Interchange HGV facility would involve the construction of a 600-space lorry park alongside associated driver welfare facilities and services, ecological enhancements and landscaping.

Overview

The 33-hectare site, which lies between Roundhill Tunnel and Dover, offers direct access to the Strategic Road Network (SRN) in both directions via Court Wood Interchange and is close to the Port of Dover.

This location next to the SRN will minimise the impact of HGVs on local roads and secure the maximum possible benefit to HGV drivers while generating wider benefits for road users, businesses, and local communities.

It will feature:

600 lorry parking spaces, split into three zones divided by green corridors.

A single-storey building providing welfare facilities for HGV drivers (catering facilities, a shop, a gym, laundry, showers and toilets etc)

Secure fencing around the perimeter

A small security gatehouse

Low impact lighting across the site

New grassland habitat to deliver onsite biodiversity

Native woodland planting, landscaping and bunding to improve biodiversity and provide screening

Engaging with the community

An in-person consultation event was held at Hougham Village Hall on Thursday, 4 December from 2pm-7pm and gathered public feedback on the plans before an application is submitted.
